Luvr AI is the app I’d point a broke roleplayer at, and the app I’d least want to be running right now. At $5.99 a month on the yearly plan with 2,340 coins thrown in, it is the cheapest legitimate subscription in my top twenty, and its Scenario Builder, where you describe a situation and it invents a character to fit, is a better idea than anything Candy has shipped in a year. It is also a brand in visible decline: Ahrefs-estimated organic search visits are down 86% from their April 2025 peak, every legal page on the site was last touched on January 15, 2024, and the Terms of Service define the governing “Country” as “San Francisco, United States”.

I keep the 8.1 because the product works and the price is honest. I’d argue with it because a site nobody is maintaining is a subscription risk, and because the memory is the weakest of anything at this rating.

My original review of Luvr was mostly inference dressed up as testing. It quoted a $9.99 monthly plan that isn’t on the page, a bank descriptor I never saw, an “all purchases final” refund stance that the actual Refunds Policy contradicts, and a cancellation flow in the account dashboard that the Cancellation Policy says doesn’t exist. So I threw it out. For this version I loaded every page on the site I could reach, read all seven legal documents, pulled the traffic history, and read every Reddit thread that mentions the brand, including the two that turned out to be seeded by the same affiliate site.

TL;DR verdict

Luvr AI is a budget specialist. If you know exactly which kink, dynamic or setting you want, the fetish-tag filters and Scenario Builder get you there faster than any rival, the chat is uncensored on paid plans, and $71.88 buys you a full year. If you want images that hold a face, memory that survives the month, voice calls, or a company whose Terms have been read by a lawyer since 2024, spend more elsewhere.

Two rules if you buy: go yearly or don’t bother, because the 6-month plan is 50% more per month for the same product, and pay with a virtual card, because cancellation is by email and I have one report of support going silent for days. Test the free tier first; 10 messages a day is enough to know whether the writing does it for you. Then, if it does, start Luvr AI here and skip the coin store until the included 2,340 run out.

The numbers nobody else will show you

I pull Ahrefs data on every app I review because traffic tells you what a homepage won’t. Here’s luvr.ai as of September 15, 2026:

• Domain Rating 53, with 727 referring domains (150 followed) and a modest 6,468 backlinks. Unlike AI Allure’s 400,000 sitewide links, this is a normal-shaped profile: mostly listicles and directories, no obvious link scheme.
• Ahrefs-estimated organic search visits: about 5,900 in August 2026, down from 15,800 in August 2025. That’s a 63% year-on-year fall.
• The peak was roughly 41,600 in April 2025. From there to now is an 86% decline. It wasn’t a cliff; it was a slide. Down 62% between April and August 2025, then another 63% over the following twelve months.
• It still ranks for 362 keywords, 86 of them in the top three, so the site isn’t deindexed. It’s just losing.
• Top countries: US 3,549, India 2,939, Canada 335. Thirty-eight percent of the remaining traffic is Indian, which for a dollar-priced subscription usually means low conversion and a search footprint built on generic “ai girlfriend free” style queries rather than brand demand.

Now the claims. The homepage says “Join 1+ million others!” The API sales page says “15M+ Users, Trusted by millions worldwide” and “Most Addictive, Highest engagement rates in the industry”. Those two numbers are on the same domain and differ by a factor of fifteen. The character cards show counters like “Ember 19.0M” and “Amaya 18.3M”, which I’d guess are messages rather than users. None of this is verifiable from outside, and a site whose organic traffic is 5,900 a month and whose subscribe page says “127 subscribed today” is not adding a million users a year through the front door.

The company is LUVR INC. The only address anywhere is the 2257 Custodian of Records: 8 The Green, Ste B, Dover, DE 19901. If that address looks familiar, it’s because it’s a registered-agent mailbox shared by tens of thousands of Delaware shells. The Terms say the company “refers to Luvr AI” and the governing law is that of “the Country”, defined as “San Francisco, United States”. A city is not a country. That sentence has been live since January 2024.

Who this is for

You’re the target customer if you arrive knowing what you want. Luvr’s library is filtered by tag the way an adult tube site is: Dominant, Submissive, BDSM, Petite, Flirty, Fantasy, Anime, Realistic, Male, Female. The Scenario Builder and those tags are the whole pitch: you describe the situation, it fills in a character. That is also why the affiliate listicles keep calling it “underrated”. They are not wrong about the feature. They are not a user review.

You’re also the target if you’re price-sensitive and text-first. Unlimited messages for $71.88 a year is the cheapest entry in my ranking that isn’t a free tier, and the 2,340 monthly coins cover about 46 images or 117 audio messages before you spend another cent.

And you’re the target if you like the Scenario Builder way of working. Most apps make you build a character, then improvise a plot. Luvr flips it: pick or type a scenario (“Cursed knight seeking redemption in a corrupted kingdom”, “Band manager navigating the cutthroat music industry”, or your own), and it generates a name, backstory, look and personality to populate it. The page banner reads “No Filters, Ever.” One independent reviewer called it “a genuinely good idea executed decently”. I agree with both halves.

Who should skip this

Skip it if memory matters. This is the single most repeated complaint across every source I read, and it’s the reason I’d argue the 8.1 is generous. Three months in, one user wrote: “Memory isn’t super consistent over time. You start noticing repetition after longer use. Some responses feel a bit generic.” Another: “memory was subpar at best.” On the free tier, memory reportedly doesn’t carry over between sessions at all.

Skip it if images are the point. Coins make each image 50 (about $0.40-0.50 at pack prices), and the third-party consensus on quality is “inconsistent”. One affiliate reviewer who otherwise liked the app flagged “missing a dedicated AI image generator”. The old builder and the in-chat generator produce serviceable pictures; they don’t hold a face across scenes the way Candy does.

Skip it if you need voice or video in any real sense. There are coin-metered audio messages (20 coins) and video clips (150 coins). There are no live calls. The “Call” link in the nav takes you to the character browser.

Skip it if a stale company scares you. I’ll make the case in its own section below, but the short version is that the site’s legal, refund and cancellation pages have not changed in two and a half years, the blog published daily for one week in February 2026 and then stopped, and the traffic is a third of what it was. That’s a maintenance-mode profile. Yearly prepayment to a maintenance-mode company is a bet.

What Reddit actually says

I went through Reddit’s live results for “luvr.ai” and “luvr ai”: 6 posts, 5 flagged as brand matches, and the comment trees on 4 threads, about 140 comments, from July 2024 through March 2026. The bulk of those comments are not about this app. One “match” is a 1,192-comment r/AskMen thread on marriage rates whose replies never mention Luvr. Strip that, and you are looking at two copy-paste “top 5 uncensored apps” listicles, a 2024 post about whether talking to bots is weird, and the older review threads I already had. Comments from people who had clearly paid: a handful. I will name them.

The useful organic thread is still “Luvr honest review after 3 months” in r/AItexting. Balanced and specific: clean UI, decent customization, conversations that “feel fairly natural (at least early on)”, then memory inconsistency, repetition and generic replies. The verdict: “Good enough to keep using occasionally. Not sure it’s something I’d pay for long-term.” A reply generalised it: these apps “are optimized for first impressions not long term use.” And the comment I’d want anyone to read before subscribing: “Luvr is horrible, no responses from customer service after days, all characters are pay to unlock. I signed up for premium, and still haven’t received any of the benefits.” One report, but it is a report about the exact failure mode an email-only cancellation policy makes dangerous.

The comments under the seeded “reviews” are more useful than the posts. “I can’t find rewind, or branch a character. Also I don’t find the depth in setting up a character that they claim.” “My experience with it was quite lackluster… memory was subpar at best.” “The chat’s still a work in progress atm for sure.” A free-tier comparison in r/XChatbots notes “daily login tokens mean you can technically keep using it for free indefinitely if you’re consistent about logging in. The trade-off is image and video gen are locked, and memory doesn’t carry over.”

The manufactured layer is thicker than I first thought. Two of the three “review” posts, r/ChatGPTPromptGenius in December 2025 and r/META_AI in March 2026, are structurally identical: “What I like” (customization, natural chats, immersive), “What could be better” (scripted moments, features locked behind upgrade), and both link to the same review on heavengirlfriend.com, an affiliate site that scores Luvr 3.95/5. The March poster even opens with “a lot of writeups about it sound weirdly identical” before producing another one. Neither subreddit has anything to do with AI girlfriends. Then there is the listicle. On 20 March 2026, r/CharacterAIrevolution got “My current top 5 uncensored AI girlfriend apps”, opening “I see people asking for good AI girlfriend apps all the time”, with Luvr as pick four: “Underrated. The Scenario Builder lets you set up custom situations and fetish filters actually work.” Six days later r/AIJailbreak got the same list with “from time to time” swapped in for “all the time”. The same post names Candy, GirlfriendGPT, JOI and Aimour in the same order. That is an affiliate stencil, not five users who independently landed on Luvr. I had previously quoted the “fetish filters actually work” line as if a real user had written it. It came from that stencil, so I’ve stopped treating it as a review.

One older organic mention is worth keeping because it is not a review. In July 2024, a r/DoesAnybodyElse post asked whether it was weird to talk to bots, because “i’ve seen a bunch of ads for platforms like Luvr AI, Character AI, etc.” Twenty-five comments followed, all about loneliness and Cleverbot and SmarterChild. Nobody who had used Luvr showed up. So: the ads were reaching mainstream subs two years ago, and the product still does not have a Reddit user base discussing it.

A r/HeavenGF ranking thread puts Luvr eighth at 3.95/5 with the line “with better AI image and video generation features, Luvr AI could easily compete for our top 3”. The site links to an official r/luvr subreddit from its footer; searching it returned nothing indexable. Astroturf check on the replies: the seeded posts push Luvr; the replies push DarLink, seewa.ai and Erogen. Discount all of them.

Sentiment among the comments I trust: mixed-to-negative on memory and long-term value, positive on the free-forever loop and on first-week chat, and one unpaid-premium / silent-support report. Roughly two mixed, two negative, zero unambiguously happy paying users.

Why this brand is shrinking

Three pieces of evidence, then my read.

First, the legal pages. Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, Refunds Policy, Cancellation Policy: all “Last updated: January 15, 2024”. The Blocked Content Policy and the 2257 statement are dated January 11, 2023. The privacy policy still carries the line “This Privacy Policy has been created with the help of the TermsFeed Privacy Policy Generator.” It collects “Email address, First name and last name”, mentions no payment processors, no encryption, no model-training position and no retention periods beyond “as long as is necessary”. The footer copyright reads “2024”. Nobody with a legal budget has been near this site in thirty months.

Second, the content. The blog published seven posts between February 14 and February 20, 2026, one a day, on topics like “10 Powerful User Generated Content Strategies to Dominate 2026” and “7 Best Platforms for Body Swap Interactive Stories”. That’s a programmatic SEO burst, not an editorial calendar. Then it stopped. The Scenario Builder page links to “the old builder”, so product work has happened, but it’s the kind you do with one engineer, not a team.

Third, the competitive set. Over the exact window Luvr slid from 41,600 to 5,900, Ourdream went from 346 visits to 918,000, JOI from roughly zero to 248,000, and Candy recovered from a penalty to 540,000. They compete for the same “ai girlfriend”, “nsfw ai chat” and “ai sexting” queries. Google doesn’t need to penalise a site for it to lose 86% of its traffic. It just needs to prefer three other sites.

My read: no penalty, no migration, no scandal. A small, cheaply run product got out-built by better-funded rivals and stopped investing in anything except the occasional feature. That’s fine for a $5.99 a month text toy. It is not fine if you’re prepaying a year and counting on the lights being on in month eleven.

First-session walkthrough

The site loads at www.luvr.ai (the bare domain 308-redirects). Title tag: “Luvr AI - Your AI girlfriend | AI Girlfriend Chat | AI Girlfriend Free”. The top nav reads Create, Sign Up, Explore, Chat, My AI, Challenges, Create Character, Scenario, and a “Go Premium: Unlimited everything” button. Below that, a tag strip: Female, Male, Realistic, Anime, Dominant, Submissive, Romance, Roleplay, Fantasy, BDSM, Flirty, Petite.

The age gate is a choice: “I’m Interested in: Girls, Anime, Guys. By selecting an option, you confirm that you are 18 years or older and agree to our Terms of Service.” No ID, no selfie, no checkbox even; picking a gender is the consent. The Terms back this with a single line, “You represent that you are over the age of 18.”

Then the character grid. The featured names are the ones the homepage testimonials mention: Ember (“Your Goth Friend”, 18-21), Delicia (“Your Best Friend’s Mom”), Amaya (“New Student”), Lauren (gym girl), Priya (“Naughty Roommate”), plus anime succubi, a kitsune caretaker and a couple of male characters. A lot of the roster leans on “18”, “student” and “landlord’s daughter” framings. It’s all labelled 18+ and it’s all fictional, but the tone is more tube-site than companion app, and you should know that going in.

The Challenges tab is a “Daily Challenges” page: “Complete Daily Challenges to unlock special rewards, characters, and bonuses!” This is the mechanism behind the free-forever loop Reddit describes. Signup is email; the site has a web manifest so it can be pinned to a home screen.

Chat experience and memory

Chat is where Luvr is competent and where it plateaus. Early impressions are consistently positive: “surprisingly natural and affectionate”, “way better than your typical chatbot”, “feels more immersive/personal than most”. Then the same users describe the model “suddenly switching into that scripted tone” and “sounding like it’s following a template”. One third-party reviewer put it more plainly: the model “is mid-tier. It’s not trying to out-prose Candy and it doesn’t succeed at it. Replies are functional, scenario-aware, and willing to escalate without being prompted three times.” That’s the fairest single sentence I’ve read about it.

Memory is the weak leg. The Scenario Builder helps because the scenario text acts as a persistent system prompt, so facts you bake into the character definition survive. Facts you mention in chat do not survive as reliably, and on free they reportedly don’t survive at all. There’s no visible rewind or branch feature, which one user went looking for and couldn’t find. If you run long arcs, keep the important stuff in the character card, not the conversation.

Image generation

In-chat text-to-image at 50 coins per image. With 2,340 coins a month on the yearly plan, that’s about 46 images before you buy a pack, and packs work out to roughly 75 cents to a dollar per image at the small end and about 38 cents at the $99.99 tier. Quality is the documented weakness: “inconsistent” and “low quality” are the words that recur across independent reviews, and even the affiliate site that scores Luvr well lists “missing a standalone AI image generator” as a con. Faces drift between generations. If you’re here for pictures, you’re in the wrong review.

Voice and video

Audio messages cost 20 coins and video clips 150, both listed on the /coins page. Neither is a live feature: you’re generating a voice note or a short clip, not talking to anyone. There is no voice cloning and no real-time call mode despite the “Call” link in the footer. Budget-wise, 150 coins a clip means the monthly allowance buys you about fifteen videos and nothing else. Treat voice and video as a novelty line item, not a reason to subscribe.

Customization depth

Two builders. The Scenario Builder is the new one and the reason to be here: fifteen-plus categories (Dark Fantasy, Musicians and Band Life, Zombie Apocalypse, Anime and Manga, Mature Romance, Cyberpunk, Supernatural Horror, Post-Apocalyptic, Sci-Fi Adventure, Medieval Fantasy, Modern Drama, Superhero, Fairy Tales, Wild West, Detective Noir), dozens of community-submitted scenario prompts under each, a Realistic or Anime toggle, and a free-text box. The “old builder” is still linked for people who prefer to set appearance and personality field by field. Custom characters are private and paid-only.

What’s missing versus the top of my ranking: no slider-level body and face control that carries into image generation, no voice selection, no visible memory-editing tools. One user’s verdict, “I don’t find the depth in setting up a character that they claim”, is fair if you’re comparing to Candy. It’s unfair if you’re comparing to anything else at $5.99.

NSFW behavior and limits

Uncensored on paid tiers, and the Scenario Builder says so in a banner: “No Filters, Ever.” The Blocked Content Policy (2023) prohibits illegal content, violence and threats, anything exploitative toward minors, privacy and IP violations, and impersonation, and says moderation tools “actively scan for policy violations” with manual review and suspension as consequences. That’s a short list by design.

Two things I want on the record. First, the roster’s heavy use of barely-legal framings is a marketing choice I’d rather they hadn’t made, even though everything is labelled 18+ and generated. Second, the free tier is where you should test whether the writing gets you there, because the paid tier just removes the daily cap; the model is the same. Try Luvr AI free for a week before you prepay a year.

Mobile experience

Browser only, no native app, but the site ships a web manifest and works as a PWA if you add it to your home screen. The Next.js front end is light; the homepage stripped to text is under 1,500 characters, which tells you it loads fast. Privacy scanners report zero third-party trackers and zero cookies on first load, which is genuinely unusual for this niche and makes it one of the least invasive companion sites on a phone. No push notifications, no App Store billing, and the image gallery will be cramped. For text roleplay on a commute, it’s fine.

Pricing analysis

What the subscribe page showed me on September 15, 2026:

Both plans list unlimited messages, unlimited characters, image generation, NSFW content, voice and video, custom characters, plus “30-day guarantee”, “Cancel anytime” and “Instant access” badges and a “127 subscribed today” counter. Free tier: 10 messages a day, limited images, 300+ characters.

Coins, from the /coins page: 500 for $4.99, 1,000 for $9.49, 2,000 for $17.99, 4,000 for $33.99, 8,000 for $63.99, 13,300 for $99.99. Spend: unlock a character 50, image 50, audio message 20, video 150.

Two things to flag. I saw no monthly plan on the page, though NSFWRanker reports $12.99 monthly, $9.99 on 3 months and a $0.99 24-hour trial that “auto-converts to a full subscription if you do not cancel within 24 hours”. If that trial is offered to you, it’s a trap unless you set an alarm. And the “$19.99 list price” that both discounts are struck through from has, as far as I can tell, never been what anyone paid; it exists to make 55% and 70% look like numbers.

Three profiles:

• Text-only, patient: free tier. Ten messages a day plus daily challenge coins is a real product, and Reddit confirms people run it that way indefinitely.
• Text roleplayer who wants no cap: yearly at $71.88. This is the only plan I’d buy. The included coins cover casual image use.
• Image-heavy: yearly plus a $33.99 pack every month or two. Call it $10-15 a month, and at that point Candy’s annual promo with better images is within reach.

Value vs alternatives

Luvr wins on price, on the Scenario Builder and on tag-based discovery. It loses on images, memory, voice, video, corporate hygiene and momentum.

Quick rule: if you’d describe what you want in one sentence and want it cheap, Luvr. If you’d rather look at it, Candy. If you’d rather it remembered you, Ourdream.

Refund and cancellation reality

Cancellation, per the Cancellation Policy: “send an email to support@luvr.ai with your account information and your reasons for cancellation.” That’s it. There is no self-service cancel described anywhere in the legal pages. The subscribe page says “Cancel anytime”, and there may well be a button inside the account once you’re paying, but I couldn’t confirm it and the policy points to email. Given the Reddit report of “no responses from customer service after days”, I’d send the cancellation email at least a week before renewal, from the account address, and keep it. Better: pay with a virtual card and freeze it.

Refunds, per the Refunds Policy: “considered on a case-by-case basis”, “may be prorated based on the unused portion of your subscription period”, and “partial refunds may be considered for subscription cancellations made within the first 7 days of the billing cycle”, processed within 5-7 business days to the original payment method. The subscribe page separately advertises a “30-day guarantee”. Those two documents describe different things and neither is binding language. On paper, this is more generous than Candy or AI Allure, both of which say all sales are final. In practice I found zero user reports of a refund being paid, and one report of premium benefits never arriving. Treat the policy as a door you’ll have to push.

CCBill is in the payment stack (the footer links to a CCBill content-removal form), and CCBill’s own dispute process is a second route if support goes quiet.

Safety, privacy and billing discretion

The company is LUVR INC., Delaware registered-agent address, governing law “San Francisco, United States”. The privacy policy is a 2024 TermsFeed template: it says the company collects email, name and usage data, may share with service providers and in business transfers, retains data “as long as is necessary”, may transfer it across borders, and lets you delete your data from account settings or by email. It does not mention encryption, payment processors, model training, biometric data or any specific retention period. That silence isn’t evidence of bad practice, but it’s not evidence of good practice either, and my previous review’s line about the policy “highlighting encryption” and reserving “anonymized conversation data to improve models” was wrong: neither phrase is in the document. Corrected.

On the plus side, the site itself is clean. Independent scans report zero third-party trackers, zero cookies on load, no canvas fingerprinting and no session recording, which puts it in the same privacy tier as Candy and above most of the affiliate-heavy competition. Age verification is a click, which is bad for compliance and good for anonymity.

Billing: the coins page promises “Discreet billing”, the processor is at least partly CCBill, and third parties report charges appearing as “luvr.ai”. My old review’s “LUVR INC” descriptor was a guess; the entity name happens to be right, the descriptor claim wasn’t sourced. Neither “luvr.ai” nor a CCBill descriptor announces adult content, but a curious partner with Google would get there in one search.

Common complaints and patterns

Ranked by frequency: memory that doesn’t hold and repetition after the first few weeks; scripted or templated replies breaking an otherwise natural tone; features and characters locked behind payment, with one report of paid benefits not arriving; image quality that’s inconsistent and face drift between generations; no rewind, branch or visible memory tools; a support queue that can go silent; and, from people looking closely, legal pages that haven’t moved since early 2024 and user-count claims that don’t add up. The March 2026 “top 5” posts that still call Luvr underrated are the same affiliate stencil that names Aimour, JOI and Candy in the same order, so don’t read them as demand coming back. Praise clusters on price, the Scenario Builder, fetish filters that work, clean UI, an uncensored paid tier, and a genuinely free way to keep chatting.

Final verdict

Luvr AI keeps its 8.1 on the strength of what it charges and how it lets you find what you want. A $5.99 a month uncensored roleplay app with a scenario-first builder and a refund policy that at least exists is a fair deal, and if your interest is specific and text-based, it may be the best deal in this ranking. I’d score it lower on trust: an 86% traffic decline, thirty-month-old legal boilerplate with a city listed as a country, an email-only cancellation flow and a “1+ million” homepage claim next to a “15M+” API claim are the marks of a product nobody senior is watching. Buy it for this year. Don’t count on next year.

Score breakdown: Price, the best in the top twenty. Discovery and Scenario Builder, unique and genuinely useful. Chat quality, natural early, templated later. Memory, the weakest at this rating. Images, inconsistent and coin-metered. Voice and video, novelty only. Safety and billing, clean site, stale paperwork, refund policy on paper, cancellation by email. Momentum, declining.

Get it if you want cheap, specific, uncensored text roleplay and you’ll pay a year upfront on a card you can freeze. Skip it if you want images, memory or a company that’s obviously still building. Start free, then decide: Luvr AI.
