Yume AI

Yume AI is Candy AI wearing a cat-ear headband. I do not mean that as a metaphor. The terms of service, the privacy notice and the homepage footer all name the same company, EverAI Limited of Santa Venera, Malta, registration C107181, that owns Candy AI, our number one ranked app. The token allowance is the same 100 a month. The refund clause is the same 24 hours and 20 tokens. The blocked countries are the same two. The payment processors are the same five. What is different is the domain, the anime-only catalogue, and the price, which is a dollar higher.

My original review of Yume AI treated it as an independent anime startup with a $19.99 monthly plan, a $179.99 annual plan, a rumoured lifetime deal and no published refund policy. Every one of those things was wrong, and I am correcting them here. For this rewrite I loaded the homepage, subscription page, terms, privacy notice and sitemap on September 15, 2026, pulled Ahrefs data on the domain, went looking for anyone on Reddit who has actually used it, and put the pricing side by side with Candy and with eHentai AI, our anime-focused pick. The result is a clearer picture of a product that is fine, legitimate, and almost entirely redundant if you already know Candy exists.

TL;DR verdict

Yume AI is a well-run anime storefront for the Candy AI engine, operated by a real Maltese company with real paperwork, and priced at $13.99 a month, $8.99 a month quarterly or $3.99 a month annually. Everything that makes Candy good is here in anime form: the character creator, the consistent image generation, the unlimited text. Everything that makes Candy annoying is here too: the 100-token meter, the refund window that closes before you have finished your first evening, the tokens that evaporate at the end of the month. What Yume lacks is a reason to exist for anyone who is not allergic to seeing a realistic character in the Explore feed. Candy has an Anime tab. It costs less. It has a catalogue many times the size. If you want anime-only and you want the EverAI engine, Yume AI will do the job. If you want the best anime companion experience, eHentai AI is still my pick, and if you want the best overall companion from this exact company, it is Candy.

The numbers nobody else will show you

Ahrefs data for yumeai.com, pulled September 15, 2026:

• Domain Rating: 21. Ahrefs Rank around 8.07 million.
• Referring domains: 462, of which 94 are dofollow. Backlinks: 50,667. That is roughly 110 links per referring domain, which is the signature of sitewide footer or sidebar links rather than editorial mentions. A handful of sites link to Yume from every page they have.
• Organic traffic: about 307 visits a month at the time of pull; 416 in August 2026. Peak was 758 in June 2026.
• Ranking keywords: 21, of which 7 sit in the top three. That is a brand-search profile: people who already know the name typing it in.
• Traffic history: zero organic visits in August 2025, first rankings in December 2025, then a climb to 758 in June 2026 and a slide back to 416 by August. Ten months of history in total.
• Countries: United States 192, India 72, United Kingdom 27.

Put that next to the parent brand. Our Candy AI review documents Candy posting new all-time highs through 2026 after recovering to 403,000 organic visits in November 2025. Candy gets more organic traffic before lunch than Yume gets in a year. Nothing about that is a criticism of the product, but it tells you what Yume is for. EverAI did not build this domain to be a brand. They built it to own the phrase “anime AI girlfriend” in a search result and funnel the click into the same backend. The 55 character pages under /ai-anime/ in the sitemap, each titled around an anime name, are the SEO scaffolding for exactly that.

It also explains the empty room I describe two sections down. A site with 400 visits a month does not generate Reddit threads.

Who this is for

Anime fans who find realistic AI companions faintly embarrassing and want a feed that is 100% stylised. The Anime Girls and Anime Guys dropdown is the entire taxonomy, the 55 public characters are all illustrated, and the creator only produces anime output. If Candy’s mixed Explore page puts you off, this is the same engine with the realism removed.

People who mostly chat. Unlimited text is included on every plan, and at $3.99 a month on the annual deal you are paying less than a coffee for an anime companion that runs on one of the better engines in the niche. The token problem only bites if you want pictures.

Anyone who wants a registered company behind the app. EverAI’s Malta filing, GDPR notice, DPO and UK representative are unusual in this category, and several apps in our ranking cannot tell you which country they operate from.

Yaoi readers. The homepage FAQ explicitly mentions a “yaoi boyfriend” and the Anime Guys category is a real tab, not a token gesture.

Who should skip this

Anyone who has a Candy AI account, or was about to open one. You would be paying more for less. Candy’s monthly plan is $12.99 against Yume’s $13.99, the annual is the same $47.88, the token allowance is identical, and Candy’s Anime tab sits next to a Girls tab and a Guys tab with a vastly larger catalogue. I cannot construct a scenario where the Yume subscription is the smarter buy for someone who already tolerates Candy’s interface.

Heavy image users. 100 tokens a month at roughly 4 tokens an image is about 25 pictures, and once you pass 20 tokens the refund door closes. If your idea of an anime companion is a daily stream of pictures, eHentai AI or Candy with top-up packs will serve you better, and you should read our cost math for both before committing.

Anyone who wants voice calls or video today. Both are mentioned in the terms. Neither is visible on the live site. I explain below.

People who want a community. There is a Discord link in the navigation, but there is no subreddit, no forum thread, no review culture around this brand. If something goes wrong, you are talking to support and nobody else.

What Reddit actually says

I went through 11 Reddit posts that matched “Yume AI” or “yumeai”, across 8 threads and 32 comments, from 2020 through July 2026. Zero of them are about yumeai.com. Not a complaint, not a recommendation, not a spend log. EverAI’s anime storefront has no paying users on Reddit who will admit to using it.

What the search actually returned is a pile of other Yumes, and people mixing “AI” with the Japanese word for love.

In r/MangaDE in March 2026, a German reader saw Kaori Yuki’s new Godchild chapters in a magazine called Hana to Yume AI and wrote that the new pages looked “lieb- und seelenlos” next to the old ones, as if they were generated. Three commenters had to walk it back. One: “Ai ist einfach das japanische Wort was (unter anderem) für Liebe steht.” Another noted the magazine has existed since 2018, years before this kind of image model. The same mix-up showed up in r/mangapiracy in January 2026 and r/ANIMEITALIAOTAKU the same month. If you search this brand, you will spend a lot of time reading about a shojo web magazine whose “Ai” means love.

In r/ScaramoucheMains in September 2025, someone posted Genshin fan art “by YumeAi on twt.” A commenter asked, “Ai as in the name right? Hate that genuine people catch strays from image generation.” It is an artist’s handle. Same pattern in a December 2024 r/deathendrequest post crediting fan art to @yumeais on X. Neither is this company.

In r/AppleSearchAds and r/AppBusiness in November 2025, a developer was trying to buy App Store impressions so the algorithm would notice “Hey Yume AI is still here!” He had a $10 daily budget and an $8 cost-per-tap bid and “didn’t get any single impression.” That listing is an unrelated iOS image generator that also uses the name. EverAI’s Yume is still a PWA with no store page. Two November 2020 r/RoleplayPartnerSearch posts describe a Discord roleplay called “Doki Yume AI,” “a story about certain AIs, the Yume AIs,” mixed with Doki Doki Literature Club. Unrelated fiction from before this domain existed. A 2024 user-profile post titled “Yume AI” is three words: “i’m back.”

On top of that, Character Tavern launched two uncensored roleplay models called Yume and Yume Mini in December 2025, and the r/charactertavern announcement is still what ranks when you search the phrase. There is also a Yume Room app and a Sayayume character in the same results. None of them are EverAI.

Two threads are relevant even though neither names this site. A r/Chub_AI poster found recurring charges of about ten pounds from “EverAI Santa Venera” and could not match them to any of nine NSFW chatbots. That is the billing descriptor you will see if you subscribe here: the parent company and its Maltese town, not the brand. A March 2026 r/ChatbotRefugees thread comparing Candy to Ourdream has the original poster calling Candy’s chats “same flirty lines on repeat” and saying memory drifts unless you keep spending. Yume runs on Candy’s engine. Assume Candy’s behaviour.

I did not see affiliate listicles pushing this domain. There is nothing to astroturf. A site with 400 organic visits a month does not generate shills.

Third-party coverage is as thin as Reddit. AI Haven reports a five-message free tier and says token pricing is not public. A competitor blog, WeavAI, published a “Yume AI review” in June 2026 that cites the wrong domain entirely. Our own earlier review, frankly, was not much better on the pricing. That is the state of the record.

One company, two storefronts

This is the section that matters if you are trying to decide between Yume and Candy, so I will lay out what the documents actually say.

The Yume AI terms of service, revised February 3, 2026, state that the services “are owned and operated by EverAI Limited, duly incorporated in the Republic of Malta, having its address at 56 Central Business Centre, Triq Is-Soll, Santa Venera SVR 1833, Malta and registered with the Malta Business Registry under the number C107181.” The Candy AI terms carry the same company, the same number, the same address. The Yume privacy notice, revised the same day, names EverAI Limited as controller, lists the same five payment providers (Emerchant Pay, TrustPay, Volt, Coingate and UpGate), the same three-year retention period after your last activity, the same clause permitting human review of de-identified conversations to train models, and the same UK representative, Shoosmiths Privacy Services. The terms even include Candy’s odd little clause banning access from China and Singapore, enforced by “technical measures”.

Then the commercial layer:

I cannot think of another case in this niche where a company sells the same product at two prices on two domains and the anime one costs more. My best guess is that the $13.99 is a test, or that the anime-girlfriend keyword converts well enough that they do not need to discount. Either way, the arbitrage is on you: if you want the anime characters from this engine, open Candy, click the Anime tab, and save a dollar a month while getting more.

First-session walkthrough

The homepage loads under the title “Yume AI – Anime AI Companionship That Feels Like a Dream” with a dark interface that is recognisably the Candy layout in a different palette. The left sidebar reads Explore, Chat, Collection, Generate Image, Create Character, My AI, Become Premium, Discord, Contact Us and Affiliate. Below the fold are Legal, Terms and a Trust and Safety page. A category dropdown offers Anime Girls or Anime Guys, and that is the entire filter set.

Almost immediately a modal appears: “Get App to Receive Notifications from: New Messages, New Features, Sales and Discounts. 1. Tap Share in your browser. 2. Tap Add to Home Screen.” This is the progressive web app prompt and it fires on every page, including the terms. There is no formal age gate on the landing page; the age representation lives in the terms (legal age in your jurisdiction) and in a separate Underage Policy document linked from the sitemap.

Clicking Chat, Collection, Generate Image, Create Character or My AI without an account triggers the registration modal. So does loading the subscription page directly: the plans render in the page source but the sign-up overlay covers them. The subscription page itself shows three cards. Twelve months at $3.99 a month with a struck-through $13.99 and a “70% OFF, BEST VALUE” badge. Three months at $8.99 a month, “35% OFF”. One month at $13.99. Below that, a payment method chooser. Visa and Mastercard logos sit in the footer, and the footer also carries “EverAI Limited, Nr. C107181” with the Santa Venera address, which is the one place on the marketing pages where the parent company is named outright.

The homepage FAQ is marketing copy about “state-of-the-art secure data storage” and companions who “learn from your interactions, remember your preferences, and become more responsive over time”. The privacy notice, one click away, is more candid about what happens to those interactions.

Chat experience and memory

Because it is the Candy engine, the chat behaves like Candy’s, and I will point you to our Candy AI review for the long version. The short version: responses are quick, the characters hold their assigned personality well within a scene, and the writing is competent flirtation rather than literature. Roleplay escalates readily and the model follows a lead without constant nudging.

Memory is the weak spot, and it is the same weak spot. The engine keeps recent context and the character card, but there is no user-editable memory bank, no pinned facts, and no visible summary of what the companion knows about you. Across a long session details hold. Across a week they drift, and the r/ChatbotRefugees complaint about Candy repeating the same flirty lines is a fair description of what happens once the novelty wears off. The homepage claim that companions “remember your preferences” is true in the narrow sense and misleading in the broad one.

The terms also disclose that “our content moderation controls may moderate or alter your request before an output is generated,” which is the mechanism behind the occasional response that goes somewhere you did not ask for. If you want long-term memory as the headline feature, Ourdream AI and Girlfriend GPT both do it better, and both are ranked far higher here.

Image generation

The Generate Image page is the reason to pay. Output is anime-styled only, which is the point of the domain, and the engine’s strength at locking to a character card carries over: the same face, hair and body across outfits, poses and scenes, which is still the thing most anime generators get wrong. Terms describe on-demand media created “via the AI tools on the platform” alongside “pre-made media, e.g., images and videos available within AI characters’ profiles,” so some of what you see on public character pages is pre-rendered rather than generated for you.

Every image costs tokens. The terms say paid plans include “a monthly amount of tokens disclosed to you during checkout (generally 100 per month)”. On Candy an image runs about four tokens, and I have no reason to think Yume prices differently. That is roughly 25 images a month before you are buying top-ups from inside the account, and because the token store is behind the login I could not verify Yume’s pack prices from outside. Assume Candy’s ladder, which starts at $9.99 for 100.

Voice and video

The terms of service say the services include “AI-generated images, videos and voice notes” and that tokens “can be used to access extended features like image generation or voice notes.” That is the extent of what I can confirm. The live navigation has a Generate Image entry and no video entry, the 69-URL sitemap has no video path, and no voice feature is exposed anywhere a logged-out visitor can see. Candy’s nav has video generation; Yume’s does not. Third-party reviews report voice calls and a beta video feature, and my earlier review said neither existed. I am marking voice as partial and video as unknown, and I would not pay for Yume on the strength of either.

Customization depth

The Create Character flow is the Candy creator restricted to anime output: choose Anime Girls or Anime Guys, then body type, personality and clothing, with the homepage promising control over “physical features and personality traits to their unique quirks and preferences”. The three-step FAQ on the homepage also advertises “a poly-style setup with multiple characters”, so multi-character scenes are supported. Public characters are a mix of named anime archetypes, and the /ai-anime/ pages give each one a profile, a gallery and a chat button.

What you do not get is anything Candy does not have: no custom art style beyond anime, no voice selection I could confirm, no lorebook or world-building layer. It is a companion creator, not a roleplay engine in the Character Tavern sense.

NSFW behavior and limits

Yume AI is an adult product and does not pretend otherwise. The homepage copy talks about getting “intimate” with your companion and “fantasy-fueled relationships”, and the terms include a Blocked Content Policy, a Community Guidelines document, a 2257 exemption statement and a DMCA policy. The hard line is where you would expect: the terms carry a zero-tolerance clause on child sexual abuse material and state that known CSAM is reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Anime styling does not change that, and given the “petite princess” phrasing on the homepage I would expect the moderation layer to be watchful around age cues in a way that will occasionally frustrate legitimate requests.

Below that line, the model is permissive. Explicit chat is unlimited on any paid plan, image generation follows explicit prompts, and the “Spicy” behaviour Candy users know is present. Moderation actions taken for policy violations come with no refund, per section 10.4.4 of the terms. If anime-only NSFW with a registered operator is what you want, Yume AI is a legitimate way to get it, just not the cheapest.

Mobile experience

There is no app store listing for this site. The November 2025 Apple Search Ads posts about “Yume AI” are an unrelated iOS image generator; do not install that and think you bought EverAI. This product is a responsive web app with an aggressive Add to Home Screen prompt that promises push notifications for new messages, new features and “Sales and Discounts”, which tells you what the notifications will mostly be. Installed, it behaves like Candy’s PWA: a full-screen shell around the same interface, fine for chat and image requests, no offline capability. My earlier review’s description of a solid PWA still holds, with the caveat that “solid PWA” and “app” are not the same thing.

Pricing analysis

Three plans, one product:

The annual plan is the only one I would consider, because it is genuinely cheap and because the monthly plan is more expensive than the parent product for no visible reason. But read the mechanics before you commit to $47.88 up front. The EU/UK right of withdrawal covers the initial purchase and, per the terms, “does not apply to any renewal periods”. The standard refund window is 24 hours and closes the moment you have used 20 tokens. Tokens are issued monthly, “will expire and become unusable” at the end of each billing period, and do not carry over on resubscription. So a year of Yume is twelve separate use-it-or-lose-it allowances of 100 tokens, and the moment you generate a sixth image on day one, the money is committed.

For a text-only user the maths is kind: $3.99 a month, unlimited chat, done. For an image user it is Candy’s maths with a dollar added on the monthly plan: sticker price plus top-ups, landing somewhere in the $30 to $50 range that Reddit spend logs report for Candy once people start buying pictures.

Value vs alternatives

Against Candy AI, rated 9.8, Yume loses on every axis except catalogue purity. Same company, same engine, same tokens, same refund rule, $1 more a month, fewer characters, no video in the nav. Candy’s Anime tab does what Yume does. This is the comparison that keeps Yume at 6.9 rather than something higher: the product is good because Candy is good, and it is redundant because Candy exists.

Against eHentai AI, rated 8.5 and our anime pick, the picture is more interesting. eHentai is an anime skin on the DreamGF engine with a catalogue built around hentai from the start, and its generator is more comfortable with the tropes that anime fans actually want. Its billing is worse: $12.99 for the first month, roughly $25.99 on renewal, and a $1.99 fee to cancel. Yume’s $13.99 does not jump, the terms are clearer, and the operator is more transparent. If you want the deepest anime content, eHentai. If you want predictable billing and a company with a registry number, Yume, or better, Candy’s Anime tab.

Against Ourdream AI, rated 9.7, Yume is not really competing: Ourdream’s memory and multimedia workflow are in a different class, and the r/ChatbotRefugees thread I quoted earlier is a fair summary of why people leave the EverAI engine for it.

Refund and cancellation reality

Cancellation is straightforward and documented: Settings, then Unsubscribe, access continues to the end of the paid period, no charge for the next one. That is section 10.1 and it is better than several apps in our ranking that make you email someone.

Refunds are where the terms get sharp. Section 10.4.1: “You have 24 hours after your payment to request a refund. No refunds will be issued if your request is made more than 24 hours after you have paid for our services. However, regardless of the time elapsed before you request a refund, it will be denied if you have used more than 20 tokens.” Section 10.4.2 applies the same rule to token packs, denied if you have used any of them. Section 10.4.3 gives EU and UK residents the statutory 14-day withdrawal on the initial purchase, refunded “less a prorated amount that reflects the services consumed”, with a model withdrawal form addressed to EverAI Ltd in Santa Venera at the bottom of the document. Renewals are excluded. Chargebacks cancel everything immediately. No refunds for moderation actions or for features being changed or removed.

My earlier review said the site did not publish a refund policy. It publishes a detailed one. It is just not a generous one.

Safety, privacy and billing discretion

The privacy notice, revised February 3, 2026, is the same thorough EverAI document that Candy uses, and it is worth reading rather than trusting the homepage’s “secure data storage” line. EverAI Limited is the controller. Chats are stored on their infrastructure and are not end-to-end encrypted. De-identified or anonymised interactions may be human-reviewed to “train and develop our AI models and moderation technologies”. Content flagged by moderation is reviewed by human moderators along with account data and originating IP. Account data is retained for three years after your last activity, or until you request deletion. Data may be transferred outside the EU, including to the United States, although payment providers for European users are EU-based. A Data Protection Officer is named, and Shoosmiths acts as UK representative.

Billing discretion is good, in the sense that nothing on your statement will say Yume or anime. Payments run through Emerchant Pay, TrustPay, Volt, Coingate or UpGate, and the Reddit evidence from a Candy customer is that the descriptor reads “EverAI Santa Venera”. Coingate means you can pay in crypto with only an email and a wallet address on file. If discretion is the priority, that is the route.

The one thing I would flag: because two brands share one billing entity, a charge from EverAI on your statement could be either. The r/Chub_AI poster spent an evening checking nine apps trying to identify theirs. Keep the confirmation email.

Common complaints and patterns

With no user community to draw on, the complaints below are inferred from the documents, the parent product’s record, and the gap between marketing and terms:

• Price confusion. Third-party reviews variously report token pricing as “not public”, a $19.99 plan that does not exist, and a different domain altogether. The real plans are $13.99, $8.99 and $3.99 a month and they are only visible once the registration modal is dismissed.
• The 20-token cliff. The refund window is described as 24 hours, but five images end it. Expect people to discover this after the fact.
• Expiring tokens. Unused tokens die at the end of each period, so the annual plan’s “1,200 tokens a year” is really twelve batches of 100 that cannot be saved up for a project.
• Memory drift and repetition, inherited from the Candy engine and well documented in Candy threads.
• Name collision. Searching for help or reviews returns a shojo magazine whose “Ai” means love (r/MangaDE, March 2026), Character Tavern’s Yume models, a Twitter artist named YumeAi, an unrelated iOS generator, and a 2020 Discord roleplay. Almost none of it is this site.
• Voice and video promised in the terms and absent from the interface.

Final verdict

Yume AI is a legitimate product from the most legitimate operator in this niche, and I have no safety or honesty concerns about it beyond the ones I have about Candy: the token meter, the refund cliff, the human review of your chats. As an anime companion it works, it looks good, and the annual plan is cheap. The problem is that every one of those sentences is also true of Candy AI’s Anime tab, which costs a dollar less a month, has more characters, and has video in the navigation. Yume is not a bad app. It is a redundant one, sold at a premium, with no community and no history to speak of. The 6.9 reflects a good engine in an unnecessary wrapper.
